Published and renown OBGYN suggests considering cord blood banking

It’s a delight to read about intelligent practitioners and other supporters of the possibilities that banking cord blood presents.  This is particularly true when these professionals are objective contributers to the conversation, not paid spokespeople.

Dr. Linda Burke-Galloway, M.D was recently inspired by the story of Chloe Levine and her cord blood transplant at Duke University to address symptoms of  cerebral palsy.

You can read what she has to say about cord blood banking in terms of its efficacy and uses.  Be advised, however, that Dr. Galloway has some of the pricing wrong (which is fine since that’s not her bailiwick).

A cord blood bank that charges $1100 for processing and storage will total close to $4000 at the end of 20 years because of those annual storage fees.  As we know,  MAZE Labs  charges one upfront fee and no annual storage fees.  That’s like saying MAZE charges $599 for processing and storage and $95/year for storage!

Dr. Galloway is the author of The Smart Mother’s Guide to a Better Pregnancy (Red Flags Pub/ 2008). You’ll find Dr. Galloway online at www.smartmothersguide.com, a lovely website with handy, basic information to keep the smart mother, or mother-to-be, informed.
