Although this story isn't outright funny, we have selected it as our winning entrant in the contest because it brought a smile to the face of everyone who read it. What a touching way to announce the impending arrival of your baby girl!
Winning Pregnancy Story
When my wife and I found out we were going to have a baby daughter, and that our 2-year old son was going to have a baby sister, we knew my wife’s father would be beside himself. She would be the first granddaughter in the family!
My wife’s family has an annual Christmas party where one of the cousins dresses as Santa and gives presents to the kids. We pulled him aside before-hand and gave him a small box to give to my father-in-law at the end of the gift-giving. At the bottom of the gift bag Santa "found" an extra box and invited my father-in-law Ron to sit on his lap and open the "surprise" present. Inside the box was a single pink booty.
It took about 5 long seconds before the tears started flowing and he ran over to hug us. As the family videographer I have the whole thing on tape, of course.
Incidentally we sent the booty's mate to my parents who live out of state. My mom called, also in tears, as soon as she opened the otherwise-unmarked package. (no note, no return address. Just a postmark from NYC)
Both kids, by the way, have their cord blood stored with MAZE and we could not have been happier with your service. Thank you for the added peace-of-mind.
